Description

Museum Calf Strap is a legendary work of art! A delicate balance swinging between the dark and lighter hue on this lustrous strap. The surface is silky smooth and pliable to hold. Each leather hide is completely hand-dyed, resulting in a wonderful marble finish-almost mottling throughout. It is ideal for any timepiece to add a hint of luscious touch.

The leather is handcrafted in premium calfskin created by Ilcea Tannery from Italy. The museum calf finish was made famous by John Lobb Paris in collaboration with their luxury shoes. Interestingly, John Lobb uses the name museum calf while Ilcea herself calls this leather Radica calf.

Leather Introduction
Museum Calf Leather comes from Ilcea Tannery in Italy. Ilcea has been making leather since the 1930s and is well known for their premium calfskin leathers and as a supplier to many of the high-end luxury brands. The desired look is made through a sponging treatment right after the leather is up from the aniline bath - not even allowing it to dry up. This treatment makes the color go all the way through the leather and not just staying on the surface. Pure aniline glazed full-grain antiqued calf. Glazing gives the antiqued skin a wide range of aniline shades and effects. It's a calf leather that had been pre-treated to obtain a marble-like result.
